Mission: Maritime project site visit
Destination: Carey's Island
Date/time: 23/10/2010 (9.00am)
Duration: 4 hours
Objective: Look around for on-shore structure, take photo, jalan-jalan cari makan
Conclusion: Mission completed !
wake up early in the morning, depart from UKM to Carey's Island.. Found the longest straight road ever saw in Malaysia on Carey's Island...in my front, can't even the end of road, look into rear mirror, can't even see the other end... What a straight straight road with no curve at all..
Surprising me is, end of the straight straight road is the sea! WOW, amazed me !!! Luckily i notice the end of road and remember to break before i drop into the sea... Then i was wondering, what engineer was that, designed such a road come perpendicular to the sea and just end like that???
How dangerous it is..
Back to our group mission.... looking around for on-shore structure.. observing the sea waves. Noticed some retraining wall, a short waterbreak... also plantation of mangroves for erosion protection.. what a good job for Sime Darby in collaboration with UM researchers!
What a memorable day, site visit under heavy rain, walking on mud and busy taking photo... Carey's Island trip ended with a simple nasi campur on mainland nearby the island... joyful ^^
grab a little cute stone before leaving the beach... as souvenir to myself :)
